Community Engagement

" We have introduced several friends to the Thursday story hours and to PJ Library. It's such a great resource. I'm a stay-at-home, Gentile parent, and I've loved having this as another way to expose our son to Jewish culture...Yay, PJ Library!"

Angela Hyland, PJ Parent

The Federation's Government Affairs team advocates for community priorities in social services for low-income families, the disabled, immigrants, refugees and the aged, and protecting human and civil rights.

"The Federation was a great partner and was instrumental in enabling the Kline Galland to open our Home Health Care Agency. This is a perfect example of what community agencies can do when they work together."

Jeff Cohen, CEO, Kline Galland

Israel and World Jewry

The Jewish Federation provides critical support for social services and community development programs in Israel and in Jewish communities worldwide. In addition, the Federation builds connections between Jewish Puget Sound and World Jewry through missions, shinshinim visits, teen Israel scholarships and more.

" I am telling you as teens to experience Israel no matter how afraid you are of leaving home because I promise it will be the time of your life ."

Siobahn Lawson, on her Federation-supported trip to Israel in 2014.

Camp Scholarships

"Thank you so much for making my trip to Camp Kalsman possible. I really was able to connect with my Jewish identity. It's amazing when you are completely surrounded by Judaism."

Asher, speaking of 2013 URJ Camp Kalsman experience

Tuition Assistance

The Jewish Federation, in partnership with the Samis Foundation, provides tuition assistance that enables more local children to attend Jewish day schools. The assistance enables Jewish Day School of Metropolitan Seattle, Menachem Mendel Seattle Cheder, Northwest Yeshiva High School, Seattle Hebrew Academy, Seattle Jewish Community School, and Torah Day School to provide scholarships defraying tuition costs.

Community Security

A Mark Bloome initiative and a partnership program, SAFE Washington provides security support for Jewish organizations through real-time communications, preparedness training, and opportunities to obtain federal community security grants.
