Wildfires have swept across Israel, damaging or destroying hundreds of homes, displacing an estimated 100,000 people, and interrupting vital utility and transportation services.
The Jewish Federations of North America has opened the Israel Fire Emergency Fund to collect donations for helping Israeli communities in need.
The fires' impact on Israelis will be long lasting. After the fires, people will return to homes, schools and neighborhoods devastated by fire. Many local institutions that provide vital services have been hit hard, and will struggle to serve just when they are most needed.
