Apartment Opens Opportunities in Israel
The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle announces the availability
of a Volunteer Apartment in Kiryat Malachi, Israel. This apartment
is available through the Western Region Partnership 2000 and
the Jewish Agency for Israel. Community members have a unique
opportunity to volunteer in their Federation’s partnership
communities of Kiryat Malachi and Hof Ashkelon on the Ashkelon
Coast. Kiryat Malachi, a town of 23,000 residents, 40% of whom
are new immigrants from the former Soviet Union and Ethiopia,
is located just one hour from either Jerusalem or Tel Aviv,
and just 15 minutes from Ashkelon and the Mediterranean Sea.

Networking
with a Twist
B&P (Business & Professional Women of the Jewish Federation)
announce the first forum of the season, an evening of networking
at the new Pacific Place location of the Twist Gallery on
November 23 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Twist, which sells artist-made
objects for everyday life, will not only host the event, but
will also donate 10% of the proceeds from any sales which
take place that evening. Cost for the event is $18, which

December 4th - An Evening with William Safire
Please join us as the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle
kicks off its 2004 Community Campaign with dinner and a thought-provoking
address by William Safire, noted New York Times columnist.
Mr. Safire, a political columnist, also writes "On Language"
which has appeared in the New York Times Magazine since 1979.
Safire brings to his columns not just the background of a
journalist, but the unique and wide-ranging experience of
a television producer, political speechwriter, historian and
intimate of movers and shakers on the world scene. This event
will be held at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle.
A minimum gift of $1,500 to the 2004 Community Campaign is
required to attend (or $1,000 for members of the Ben Gurion

Study Buddy is a social justice project jointly sponsored by
the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and B'nai B'rith Evergreen
Region, which connects Jewish volunteer tutors with at-risk
students in grades K-8. The program is built on the Jewish value
of Tikkun Olam, repair of the world, and the idea that citizens
will assume the responsibility of action on behalf of their
communities. Please consider making a one hour a week commitment

Volunteer
for a Federation Phonathon!
Every year, the Jewish Federation organizes monthly phonathons
to help us reach out to our donors. Once a month on Sunday mornings,
volunteers gather to make phone calls to donors from previous
years and solicit gifts to the 2004 Community Campaign. No prior
training is necessary. The first phonathon will be on Sunday,
November 2 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Each gift touches many
