Introduced to the Seattle community in 1999, the Rimon Division is a nationally recognized designation for women who personally contribute $1800 or more to the Jewish Federation Community Campaign during a given year. Rimon is the Hebrew word for pomegranate. Since its introduction, the Rimon division has grown to include over 80 women. The Women's Division will sponsor the first ever Rimon campaign event this fall, to be held on November 6. The special guest speaker will be Dr. Ellen Cannon. FULL STORY
 
B & P AND WEF PRESENT: DONNA DUBINSKY, NOVEMBER 20  
The next B&P Forum will take place on November 20th in the Mountain Room at Tully's Coffee Corporate Headquarters featuring Donna Dubinsky. Dubinsky, the former president and CEO of Palm Computing and current CEO of Handspring, is the highest profile businesswoman who has spoken for the B&P division yet, and her speech promises to be an interesting mix of business and religious messages. Ms. Dubinsky revolutionized the handheld computer market in 1996 with the launch of Palm and has continued to do so in the PDA market.

Is it possible for two dozen Jewish organizations to work together and produce a successful program?  On Sunday, October 20, the "Shop Israel in Seattle" committee, chaired by Sasha Schnabel, proved it could be done.  Working with the Federation's Community Development Department and most major organizations and area synagogues, Schnabel assembled a planning committee drawn from an alphabet soup of groups ranging from the Stroum Jewish Community Center to AISH and AIPAC to Hadassah to Tree of Life Books.  They created an action plan to turn a vision of an Israeli mall into a reality in Seattle. PANIM EL PANIM: THE INSTITUTE FOR JEWISH LEADERSHIP AND VALUES
Since 1988, nearly 10,000 students from over 125 communities across the United States have come to Washington, D.C. to participate in Panim el Panim: High School in Washington. Panim el Panim brings together groups of 10th - 12th grade students from several communities, for four-day leadership seminars to explore Jewish values and social and political activism. “MOVING FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO COLLEGE”
The Community High School Of Jewish Studies is pleased to announce that we will be offering a parent /student education program on November 20th entitled,
“Moving From High School to College”.
Joel Epstein, the author of A Parent's Guide to Sex, Drugs, and Flunking Out: Answers to the Questions Your College Student Doesn't Want You to Ask (2001), will speak with students and parents on issues facing Jewish college-bound students in the post 9/11 world. He will address issues such as—how campus life has changed since 9/11, how what is going on in the Middle East effects today’s Jewish college students, and how to find the school with the right Jewish community for you.
