RIVY
POUPKO KLETENIK WINS NATIONAL COVENANT AWARD
Each
year the Covenant Foundation honors three outstanding Jewish
educators from all over the North American continent with
the prestigious Covenant Award for Exceptional Jewish Educators.
Rivy Poupko Kletenik joined the ranks of the chosen
few last week in Philadelphia as she received this year's
award. Rivy is much more to our community than an unbelievable
educator: not only does she teach a broad spectrum of the
Jewish community as a member of the faculties of Limmud NW
Community Program for Adult Jewish Studies, Midrasha, the
Community High School for Jewish Studies, Northwest Yeshiva
High School, and the Jewish Teachers Certification Program...
and there is so much more! READ

HONORING OUR TEACHERS: TELLING OUR STORIES
"What we need more than anything else is not textbooks but
textpeople. It is the personality of the teacher which is the
text that the pupils read; the text that they will never forget."
(A.J. Heschel) Telling our teachers' stories is one way to honor
our teachers. Telling stories is a Jewish thing to do. Jewish
Education Council chair Robin Boehler has appointed Tina Novick
to head a committee that will develop programs to honor Jewish
teachers. Click here for more information about Honoring our
Teachers.
