YLD Matzah Ball
The infamous Matzah Ball returns, tomorrow night, December 24 at 9pm. Join hundreds of YLD'ers at Club Medusa for a night of fun! Dance to your favorites from the 70's, 80's, 90's and beyond. UJC Endowment Mission to Israel - "I'd go back in an instant!"
Gail Gordon, Endowment Director of the Federation's Jewish Community Endowment Fund, gives an account of her recent trip to Israel on a mission to identify opportunities for overseas endowment giving. Gail describes the economic and psychological toll that the situation has taken, imaginative responses that Israelis have crafted to the challenges, and ways that Federation dollars are supporting social welfare and emergency responsiveness. Afternoon Activities for Students in Israel
(managed by JDC) Over 40,000 children are participating in about 1,000 educational afternoon programs, most of which extend the normal school day, providing lunch and recreational activities. In addition, there are programs for Israeli Ethiopian children, programs for children from the FSU, and programs operated by community centers.
* The average number of children in each program is 37.
* The average cost of each program is $16,000.
* The average annual cost per child is $432. Click here for a complete list of Afternoon Activities Programs. At Moriah High School in Jerusalem, one mother said that no words could express her gratitude to the American Jewish communities for making this program possible. Connections 2003
This year, the Women's Division of the Jewish Federation announced exciting new plans for Connections 2003, the largest annual gathering of Jewish women in the Greater Seattle area. In keeping with the tradition of inviting premier speakers, this year's keynote Gloria Steinem, is no different and will be a major draw for attendees. READ MORE  

 

Milk and Honey brochures were mailed to 3rd grade families earlier this month.
This partnership savings program is open to families of 3rd graders only. Families are eligible for the Federation's gift of $1200 for each student enrolled, to be applied toward an organized trip to Israel. Families can sign up for this year through August 31, 2003.

The Alexander Muss High School in Israel currently has 7 incredible PNW students signed up to attend the 8 - week February session, departing on February 4th. Currently, there are 30 students nationwide participating in the December session, returning on January 24. READ MORE   

"Hebrew High" Student Dinner / Discussion with CHSJS graduate Arielle Bernstein. Wednesday, January 8, 2003. Active in Jewish life on campus at Penn, Arielle spent her junior year at Ben Gurion University in Israel. An advocate for Israel in both the Jewish community and the world at large, Arielle recently spoke about Israel Advocacy on campus to Jewish community leaders from all over North America at the UJC General Assembly. Find out first hand what is actually happening in colleges and how advocates for and against Israel are reacting to what is happening in the world today!
