NEW TO SEATTLE

Welcome!

Our 2000 Demographic Study found the Jewish population in Greater Seattle to be about 37,200. 26.9% of those people live on the eastside, 24.7% live in Seattle south of the ship canal, 40.3% live in the north end and north suburbs, and 8.1 live in the southern outer suburbs & Puget Sound islands.

Ours is a growing, vibrant community, one that offers a great variety of ways for a very diverse Jewish population to connect. There are twenty-one synagogues in the Greater Seattle area, including Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, Meditational, Reconstructionist and a Secular Jewish Circle, just to mention a few. The Stroum Jewish Community Center is located on Mercer Island with a branch in North Seattle. When it comes to education, Seattle has five Jewish day schools, most synagogues have supplemental religious schools, we have a supplemental High School of Jewish Studies, and even Adult Jewish Education.

Seattle offers a myriad of Jewish activities and organizations to fit your specific needs. Visit the Guide to Jewish Washington for information on anything from synagogues to schools, and much more.

Younger Seattle newcomers may be interested in JConnect: Jconnect Seattle is a unique program run by Hillel at the University of Washington that is designed to serve the needs of post-college (ages 22-32) Jewish young adults in Seattle. Our mission is to bring together Jewish grad students, young professionals and their friends to create opportunities for them to build community together, celebrate their Judaism together, learn together and take action together.

If you would like to receive a copy of our Get Connected Packet or receive other information, please fill out our Sign-up form.
