The Ben Gurion Society (BGS) is for all donors, ages
25-45, who make a gift of $1,000 or more to the Jewish Federation's Community
Campaign. This national society is the first of its kind to recognize this
growing group of young donors and has seen much success in communities all
over the country. It offers committed young donors who are able to make
a gift of this amount opportunities for networking, special conferences,
special subsidies for missions and more. In
January 1999, the newly formed Seattle chapter of the Ben Gurion Society
inducted 30 members into its ranks. They joined the 13 other Seattle BGS
members who have been apart of this exciting new group since the 1999
Ben Gurion Society Chazak IV Mission to Israel. With their support and
energy, Seattle has become one of the communities bringing BGS into the
national spotlight as the United
Jewish Communities newest and hottest group for young people.
You will notice Ben Gurion Society members at various Federation
events, as they will be sporting their beautiful BGS pins - silver, engraved
with the profile of this group's inspiration, David Ben Gurion. Mr. Ben
Gurion was chosen as our uniting figure because he never forgot that God
said the Israelites must become a unique nation - a nation that embraces
the higher virtues of truth, justice and compassion. We too will create
our community based on these virtues.
