About the Government Affairs Department

A function of the External Affairs Department of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle, our Government Affairs Subcommittee works tirelessly to protect the partnership between Government, our beneficiary agencies and the clients they serve.

This includes legislative advocacy work, grassroots organizing, community education and coalition-building. Each week during the annual legislative session, our Government Affairs Director, produces an "Action Alert" which summarizes current community legislative priorities and actions that you can take to help promote community interests.

How does it work?

Whenever decisions that affect Washington's Jewish community are being made, we will email you an Action Alert. The alert will give you brief background information, the action that is needed, and provide an easy way to contact your legislators. During the state legislative session, we will send alerts every week.

What will I have to do?

This is easy. Do you have questions about contacting your legislators?

When you receive the Action Alert, all you have to do is take five minutes to contact the policy-maker and give them the message provided for you. Whether you use email or the toll-free legislative hotline, contacting elected officials is quick and easy. This rapid response system will create rapid results for our Jewish community.

It's easy. Just fill out the signup form and hit the "submit" button!
